Owner, Staff Instructor
John was certified right here at Gene’s Aqua Pro in 1986 and became a PADI Instructor by 1988. Thus a lifelong passion for diving ensued. Gene Frusher handed him the keys to the dive shop in 2014. When he isn’t underwater, he’s probably working his “real job” as a Captain with an Oklahoma Fire Department.
“Lake Tenkiller with my wife or one of my kids as a dive buddy.”
When John purchased his first piece of scuba equipment from Gene’s back in the 80s, it was a Scubapro MK10 First Stage with a G250 Second Stage. Now, he’s diving the MK25 with an S600 - the direct descendant of his very first regulator.
Larry started diving in 1972 right here at Gene’s Aqua Pro. A few years later, he joined the U.S. Navy - a career that would take him around the world and make possible dives in the Mediterranean, Persian Gulf and Caribbean regions to name a few. After retiring from the Navy and Arizona Highway Patrol, Larry and his wife (and favorite dive buddy), Cherylee, moved back to Oklahoma. He’s come full circle and now trains divers for the same dive shop that sparked his passion for diving decades before.
Guam - the only place in the world where you can touch a World War I and World War II shipwreck at the same time, plus beautiful coral heads and marine life.
"Truk Lagoon" Micronesia
While stationed in Charleston, South Carolina, Larry and Cherylee enjoyed diving inland rivers and searching the bottom for prehistoric shark teeth and artifacts.
Philipp was certified in the Philippines in 1999 and has dove all over the world in the years since. In 2011, he earned his Instructor certification and proceeded to teach on shore and on a live aboard in Thailand. These days, he can be found teaching a wide range of specialties right here on Lake Tenkiller.
